Superman vs. Superman

As already has been said in the alphabetic mutations science has a penchant for complex and confusing names. But sometimes the scientist also take a more easy route naming the genes after cartoon figures (Pokémon), fictional characters(werewolf), Greek myths(Titin). Yes indeed there are names such as Sonic hedgehog for proteins involved in signaling and Cleopatra for a fairly lethal mutant gene. Here is a look at one of the genes that has been named after the favorite comic hero superman and how much it shares with “man of steel”

Features
Superman-gene
Superman-hero

Place of Birth
Arabidopsis thaliana
Planet Krypton

Official name
FLO10
Clark Kent

Duties
It encodes a transcription factor ( C2H2 type zinc finger protein).
Helping in the development of the Metrapolis city.

Production of supernumerary stamens and reduced carpels
Reducing the rates of crime
Weakness
Repressed by KRYPTONITE, a histone H3-K9 methyltransferase that results in silencing of the gene by methylation.

Superman is most vulnerable to green Kryptonite, mineral debris from Krypton transformed into radioactive material by the forces that destroyed the planet.
Yes the scientists had names the weakness of the genes and his human counterpart alike knowingly
Partners
Homolog of the genes is present in the petunia PhSUP1.
Team-ups with fellow superhero Batman.

Linkage
It interacts with the other genes of the ABC model of flower development in a variety of ways.  ( although no romantic linkages have been found)
There he works alongside reporter Lois Lane in the Daily Planet newspaper with whom he is romantically linked.
